The Kempynck story starts late 1918, after the First World War, whereas my grandfather René Kempynck opened the first car service & repair in the region to work on the first cars.
In 1947 my father, Léon Kempynck, performed the first of many mechanical engine tunings.
In 1971 I, Jan Kempynck, was the worldwide first chip tuner.
At the age of 16, I already developed the first electronic ignition system and I also developed the first wiper interval system.
I was immediately passionate by race engines and car electronics and I modified the first analog BOSCH D-Jetronics and L-Jetronic systems.
Later, when the digital versions like Bosch Motronic came on the market, I started to modify these units by reprogramming them. In the technical secondary school, I followed the faculty mechanics & electrics; after which I went to the university to study control engineering, finishing with an additional year studying automotive .
The first five years after school, I became technical officer in the army. Next, I became a BOSCH engineer, where I had to solve all kind of car electronic problems, where I started to work on dyno's and already had to tune a lot of race engines.
In 1989, I started my own company named "Kempower" (= Kempynck + Power), where I built a lot of race- and road engines, by developing and producing all the mechanical parts, designing & building the wire looms and tune these engines on the dyno.
I also built complete race cars. I had different official car manufacturers as customer, who asked me to develop race engines from a to z, completely on my own.<br>
From 1989 until 1997 my engines, cars, won 27 national and international championships and more than 100 regional championships.
From 1997 on, I built less race engines, because I had a huge demand in tuning road cars, mechanical as well as electronical.
With all these years of experience, I knew that there was a need in electronic add-on devices to be able to meet the need when there is something changed on a car.
In 2018, my family is exactly 100 years involved in cars and with all this assembled experience, I decided to build standalone electronic add-on devices to be able to take cars under control.
I registered the name ""KempoTronic" (= Kempynck + electronics) for these electronic devices.
